Like most major appliances, our Central Boiler outdoor furnaces come fully assembled -- the unit only requires installation. Installing your Classic outdoor wood furnace is easier than you might think. Many customers choose to install their own furnace because the installation can be easily completed in a day using the installation manual.
When you buy from us at Mainline you can do as little or as much of the installation as you are comfortable with. We will walk you through the process and answer any questions that you have. If you'd still prefer to have a professional take over, we can provide you with our local, fully licensed contractors for any plumbing, electrical, concrete or carpentry services that you need. Don't hesitate to ask for references -- our satisfied customers would be more than happy to share their experiences with you.

1. Choose a Location
- As close as 4' or up to 500' away from the building being heated. The average is 70' to 150'.
- On most models, the furnace may be installed directly on stable ground that is level without the necessity of pouring a slab. If the ground is unstable or not level, you may want to either use a perimeter of patio blocks under the base or pour a concrete foundation.
- It is required that the CL-7260 and Pallet Burner models be installed on concrete foundation.
2. Install your System
- Dig a trench for insulated water lines 12" to 18" underground. Do NOT dig deeper than 18" when using Central Therm® and sleeve. You run the chance of losing efficiency by being in the ground water level.
- Wrap pipes in insulating foam, pull on outer sleeve and place in the trench.
During winter, wrap pipes in Central Therm® Insulation with water tight, weather resistant sleeve, or use our newest product, ThermoPEX®. Provides temporary, above ground installation any time of year, giving you time to decide the best location for your furnace. The hose, insulation, and weather resistant sleeve should be buried underground in the springtime at your earliest convenience.
3. Connect your System
- Attach pipes to the furnace, and to your heating system -- attachment to heat exchanger will vary depending on the type of heating system in your home or building.
- Designed to work with any existing heating system to provide 100% of your heat while giving you normal thermostatic temperature control.
- You can also add a domestic water-to-water heat exchanger in order to provide all of your domestic hot water needs.
