Available in 8.5 to 100 KW, KOHLER_® backup power systems include everything for reliable supplemental power. Each system features the generator unit, transfer switch, battery charger and distribution panel. Here's how it works:

• The automatic transfer switch continually monitors the utility power source for any interruptions.
• In the event of a power outage, the transfer switch starts the generator to restore electricity -- within seconds.
• When utility power returns to a steady state, the transfer switch reverses the process, shuts down the generator and continues monitoring.
• KOHLER generators are also programmed to perform an automatic weekly maintenance test to ensure they are in proper operating order and ready to provide power during an outage.
  
  

Essential loads configuration (pictured right) An essential loads configuration utilizes an independent essential loads distribution panel to route electricity to the specific system you preselect to receive power during an outage.

A whole house configuration simply routes power through your existing main power distribution panel, ensuring power delivery to every electrical system and convenience in your home.
