Crete Heat

Crete-HeatThe Crete-Heat insulated floor panel system is an easily assembled modular board insulation, vapor barrier and radiant tube holding grid. It allows for simplified installation of hydronic radiant floor heating systems in basements, garages, main floor slab on grade and above grade installations where concrete or gypcrete is normally used.

Crete HeatThe Crete-Heat insulated floor panel system is 2 7/8" overall thickness, with 2" of solid EPS foam providing an R-9. Its retrofit or above grade panel provides 2 1/8" overall in thickness, with 1" of solid EPS foam providing an R-6 with a 23db sound reduction knob on the lower surface. Each interlocking panel covers up to 8 square feet with fasteners for 1/2" and 5/8" radiant tubing. A 10 mil polystyrene film provides the vapor barrier.

The BarrierThe Barrier underground insulation is a high-performance, easy to use and cost effective material for underground and under concrete insulation requirements. The core component is an extruded EPS. Both sides are laminated with a tough heavy-duty 3mil polyethylene film. One side of the film has a 1 inch overlap running the length with a double-faced adhesive on the bottom side, allowing one roll to be butted up to the next roll, giving you a seamless closure.

It provides excellent resistance to the transfer of heat and cold. The extruded foam effectively creates an "igloo" effect. The Barrier™ has a K-Value of .019. It has the ability to stop all forms of moisture transfer. The combination of extruded foam and heavy film completely stops any and all forms of moisture transfer.

Crete Heat

StyrofoamStyrofoam was invented by Dow more than 50 years ago and identified by the distinctive Blue™ color. Dow invented a process for extruding polystyrene to achieve a closed cell foam that resists moisture.

How does it work? Resistance to the flow of heat is measured in "R-value", the higher the R-value, the harder it is for heat to get through. STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation is rated at an R-value of 5.0 per inch at 75°F. The material R-value for the entire wall assembly is derived by adding an R-value of 0.08 per inch for concrete along with an interior air film coefficient that produces an R-value of 0.68 and an exterior air Dow Styrofoamfilm coefficient that produces an R-value of 0.17. A wall utilizing STYROFOAM T-MASS Technology with a 2-inch exterior layer and a 4-inch interior layer of concrete along with a 2-inch layer of STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation would result in a material R-value of approximately 11.33.
